
National leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party yesterday admitted that there has been cold war among its national officers.
Addressing newsmen yesterday after its weekly national working committee, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, disclosed that the team had resolved to work together as a team.
Daily Sun checks revealed that the INEC report which faulted the national convention held last year where the national officers emerged was discussed and members took a position to work as one family. Metuh told newsmen that it was in the interest of the PDP national working body to cooperate with the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
“We are resolved to remain focused in administering the affairs of the party and we are not going to respond to any rumour or any other issue concerning the national convention.
“All members are completely agreed that the national convention was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution. “It is instructive to state as well that members of the NWC unanimously endorsed the leadership of the party under Bamanga Tukur.
We are supporting him fully because we believe in his ideas and programme and together we will be able to move the party to a successful elections in 2015.” Metu further claimed that the PDP NWC was now fully intact.
“NWC is intact, one, indivisible, united and in one accord at promoting the policies and programmes of the PDP. We are fully in one accord and in complete support of the programme of President Goodluck Jonathan.”
“ The party is in support of all the structures of all other bodies knowing fully well that the national chairman is in charge of all affairs of the party and all arms of the party report to the NWC.” On the ongoing ministerial briefing where serving ministers appeared before the national leadership of the party, Metuh disclosed that it was meant to intimate the party national executive on the achievements of the ministers.
“The NWC is fully in support of the transformation agenda of Mr. President and that is why the National chairman resolved with the NWC to invite the ministers to ensure that this programme are well publicised.”
“Through our party members the performance of the government is showcased to the entire country to show that the transformation agenda is working and that the government is working according to the manifesto of the party.”
